Starship Troopers
1960 Hugo Award Winner for Best Novel
Narrative Synopsis
Juan Rico volunteers for the Mobile Infantry of the Terran Federation, an orbital drop-capsule strike force that lands elite armored soldiers onto planetary targets. Through boot camp at Camp Currie and brutal combat against the alien Arachnids and Skinnies, Rico learns the moral basis of civic franchise: full citizenship is granted solely to those who risk their lives for the defense of the body politic.
Citizenship is an attitude, a state of mind, an emotional conviction that the whole is greater than the part.
